Big Breakfast Plus Reopening Graphic (The Pilgrim Centre, Swindon)

Please note we have recently posted an updated announcement about our timetable for reopening which has moved from December 2021 to January 2022

It has been a while since we were able to update you all on our progress behind the scenes and our future service delivery, we now have some good news to share with you. Our Board of Trustees and General Manager Jax have secured a new venue for our breakfast service, and with it secured the future of Big Breakfast Plus!

Big Breakfast Plus will be based at The Pilgrim Centre, Regent Circus, Swindon. This is a fantastic, central venue with a community café and plenty of space for our guests to relax, unwind and enjoy a hearty meal. We are delighted to have found a new home for breakfast and would like to thank The Pilgrim Centre for making us welcome.

Revd Jonathan Edwards, Transitional Minister of Central Church said:

“We at Central Church are delighted to welcome Big Breakfast Plus to use our premises to continue their important work.  We have an excellent kitchen and large coffee shop area and are eager that they should be used to help people in the middle of the town.  We very much look forward to working in partnership with Big Breakfast Plus and wish them all success in this new chapter of their life.”

Whilst we have secured new premises, we are not ready to reopen straight away. There is a lot of work to do to ensure we are ready to resume our service. This includes recruiting a Breakfast Shift Lead and reconnecting with our volunteers.

Big Breakfast Plus will officially reopen in December 2021 between 07.30-09.00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at The Pilgrim Centre.

We are grateful for your support and patience whilst we worked to secure the future of Big Breakfast Plus following our closure during Covid-19. Thanks to our team we can see our new service delivery beginning to take shape and we are excited about the future.

Changes to Our Board of Trustees

In addition to our service delivery, there have also been changes to our Board of Trustees.

Rosemary Curtis and Di Harris both retired as Trustees at our Annual General Meeting in September. Rosemary stepped down after nine years’ service (three of those as Chair) and Di had served as a trustee of our charity for seven years. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Rosemary and Di for their support and service to our charity. Big Breakfast Plus would not have been the same without your leadership and we wish you all the best for the future.

With Rosemary and Di stepping down, we have a number of new additions to our Board of Trustees, including our new Chair of Trustees Charlotte Mannion. We will soon be adding new names to our Trustees page so you can find out a little bit more about them. In the meantime, please do visit Trustees for more information about Charlotte and Trustees Sam and Sarah (who many of you may already know).
